Itinerary

This was our first trip and we wanted to try and do it in a long weekend and also, start and end in the same city. Since we had a clean slate, it was easy to settle on Chicago as the focus. The first obstacle that we encounter when planning every trip is the fact that it is extremely rare that teams in close proximity play on the same day, this is so that the local markets aren't diluted. Even when not trying for the same day, arranging to see the Cubs and White Sox in the same trip can be challenging.

We were able to find a schedule that would allow us to see the White Sox, Twins, Brewers, and Cubs on consecutive days. Ed flew out to Chicago from the west coast while Mike and Lumpy drove Lumpy's Honda Civic from the northeast, this way we wouldn't have to rent a car out there. You'll be able to see over the course of our trips that the philosophy has evolved. We've gone from 3 people to 6,7, or 8 so we need to rent a van, our 4 day trip can now be 10 days, and distance is of little consideration as we've drive 6 hours to a game and immediately afterwards, another 6 hours to the next.

Day 1: Mike and Lumpy drive from the northeast to Chicago, meet Ed at O'Hare, spend the night in Chicago.

Day 2: Head to grocery store, tailgate at Comiskey for the Sox day game, spend the night in Chicago.

Day 3: Drive up to Minneapolis for the Twins night game, stay the night outside Minneapolis.

Day 4: Drive down to Milwaukee for what we thought would be a night game but ended up a day game (see: Getting Ueckered), hit the Milwaukee bar scene, spend the night in Milwaukee.

Day 5: Drive to Chicago, drop Ed off at O'Hare, continue driving home.

Total Mileage = 839
